Have you ever looked at a map while you were on a trip and tried to decide which road you should take to get to where you wanted to go? If you chose the wrong road, you were lost and you had to turn around and go back to the right road. The same is true with our lives. Many times we choose the wrong path when we make decisions in our lives and we become lost in sin and live in disobedience to Jesus. We have to turn around and go back to the right path; the path that Jesus has told us to travel.
There is only one path to real happiness and that is on the path that Jesus gives us. We have a lot of decisions to make in our lives but if we will allow Jesus to direct our paths, we will have a lot less trouble and confusion. Sometimes we think we know what is best for us. However, that is not what we read in our Scripture verses for today. We are given instructions to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
Are we really trusting the Lord and following the path that He has given to us or are we traveling down a path that we have decided is best for us? We can’t see the end of our paths but Jesus can see them and He knows that if we continue on the paths that we have decided are best for us that we will end up with broken hearts, confused and lonely.
If you are traveling down the path that you have set for yourself; the path that will lead you to loneliness, confusion, unhappiness and turmoil, I urge you to turn around and get on the right path, the path of Jesus that leads to true and lasting happiness. His path will give you peace, joy, contentment, happiness and excitement. The most precious thing about traveling down the path that He has set for you is that He will take your hand and walk with you to lead you and protect you from all danger. Put your hand in the hand of Jesus and allow Him to lead you down His path of happiness.
